Legal Information
This Legal Information page explains who operates this website, how the organisation behind it is registered in the United Kingdom, what you may and may not do with the material published here, and how we handle the legal formalities that apply to a commercial website serving the live television production industry. It should be read alongside our other policy pages, which are cross-referenced in plain text below. This version was last updated on 30 October 2026 and replaces all earlier versions.
We have written this page in plain English. Where a legal term is unavoidable, we explain what it means in practice and what it means for you as a visitor, a reader, a prospective customer or a business partner.
1. Identity of the Website Operator and Its Role
This website is owned and operated by factuzon, referred to on this page as “we”, “us” or “our”. We are a professional hub for live television production. Our published material explores studio equipment integration, dynamic camera techniques, acoustic optimisation, lighting setups, and the operational processes that keep news programmes, interviews and live shows reliable when there is no second take.
Our role in relation to this website has three distinct parts. First, we act as the publisher of the technical and editorial content you find here. Second, where you ask us to, we act as a supplier of professional services and equipment connected with studio integration, lighting, audio and production workflow. Third, we act as the controller of any personal information that you choose to send us through the contact form or through the contact routes listed in section 3.
We are not a broadcaster, a regulator, a licensing authority or a certification body. Nothing on this website is an official statement on behalf of any broadcaster, standards organisation or trade association, and a reference to a practice, standard or piece of equipment is not a warranty that it is suitable for your particular production, venue, cabling, power supply or regulatory environment.
2. Legal Form, Registration Details, Tax Identifiers and Responsible Representatives
The operator of this website is a private limited company incorporated in England and Wales. A private company limited by shares is a legal person in its own right: it can own property, enter into contracts, employ staff and be sued in its own name, and the liability of its shareholders is limited to any amount unpaid on their shares. This is the legal form under which most United Kingdom production, systems integration and equipment businesses trade, and it is why our full registration details are published below.
- Operator name: factuzon
- Legal form: private company limited by shares, registered in England and Wales
- Company Registration Number: 03555097
- VAT Registration Number: 477222243
- Country of registration: United Kingdom
- Registered office: MediaCityUK B4, Orange Tower, Salford Quays, Salford, Greater Manchester M50 2HE, United Kingdom
- Company registrar: Companies House, an executive agency of the Department for Business and Trade
- Tax authority: HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC)
The Company Registration Number is the unique identifier assigned to the company by Companies House when it was incorporated. It appears on the public register and on the company’s statutory correspondence, and it can be used by anyone to confirm the company’s existence, its registered office, its filing history and its current officers. The VAT Registration Number is the identifier issued by HMRC and is the number that must appear on VAT invoices. Where we charge VAT on a supply, the applicable rate and the amount are shown separately on the invoice.
Because the company is registered in the United Kingdom, its published accounts and confirmation statements are filed with Companies House and are available to the public. If you require a copy of a specific statutory document for due diligence, tender or supplier onboarding purposes, ask us and we will tell you where it can be obtained from the public register.
Responsible representatives
The company is managed by its board of directors, whose details are recorded on the public register at Companies House. Day-to-day responsibility for the editorial and technical accuracy of this website, and for responding to legal correspondence addressed to the website, rests with a nominated member of our management team. Where a written notice needs to reach that person directly, please mark it clearly and send it to the registered office address shown above; we will confirm receipt.
Licences, permits and regulatory position
We do not hold, and do not require, a broadcasting licence from Ofcom, because we are not a television or radio broadcaster and we do not provide a licensable on-demand programme service. Broadcast clearance, compliance and editorial responsibility for any programme remain with the commissioning broadcaster. Where a production uses recorded or live music, obtaining the necessary licences from the relevant collecting societies is a matter for the producer or broadcaster concerned.
As a business that supplies electrical and electronic equipment in the United Kingdom, we take our obligations under the waste electrical and electronic equipment regime seriously, including obligations relating to the take-back and environmentally sound treatment of covered equipment. If you need information about how a particular item of equipment should be handled at the end of its working life, contact us and we will point you to the correct route.
3. Registered Office and Available Contact Details
Our registered office, which is the address at which formal legal documents may be served on the company, is MediaCityUK B4, Orange Tower, Salford Quays, Salford, Greater Manchester M50 2HE, United Kingdom. Correspondence sent there is collected and routed internally, so please allow a reasonable period for a reply, particularly for anything sent by post.
For everyday enquiries, including technical questions, studio planning, hire availability, integration scoping and press requests, the quickest routes are:
- Email: [email protected]
- Telephone: +44 (0)161 295 4545
- Contact form: available on our Contacts page, which is reachable from the main navigation on every page
When you use the contact form, you choose what information to send us. Please do not send sensitive personal information, confidential production scripts, rights-restricted material or security credentials through the form. A short description of your requirement, the type of production, the venue or studio, and your timescales is usually enough for us to route your message to the right person.
Formal notices under a contract must be given in writing and delivered by hand, by pre-paid first class post or by another next-working-day delivery service, or by email to the address above. We aim to acknowledge formal notices within one working day and to respond substantively within five working days.
4. Purpose, Scope and Intended Audience of This Website
This website exists to share practical, experience-based guidance on live television production and to describe the services we provide. Its subject matter includes studio equipment integration, camera movement and framing technique, acoustic treatment and optimisation, lighting design for studio and location work, and the production disciplines that make news bulletins, interviews, panel discussions and live shows dependable.
The website is intended for professional and semi-professional audiences in the United Kingdom: technical directors, vision engineers, lighting directors, sound supervisors, studio managers, production managers, facilities teams, educators and students of broadcast production. It is a commercial website, which means that some pages describe chargeable services or equipment and invite you to get in touch.
The website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. It is written in English, priced where prices appear in pounds sterling, and oriented towards United Kingdom practice, terminology, electrical standards and regulation. Readers outside the United Kingdom are welcome, but they should check local requirements before relying on anything published here.
Nothing on this website constitutes a binding technical specification, a formal quotation, a health and safety assessment, an electrical design, a structural assessment or professional engineering advice for a specific site. Any project we undertake is governed by a separate written agreement and, where relevant, by a site survey.
5. Access to and Acceptable Use of the Website
We make the website available free of charge on an “as available” basis. We may change, suspend, withdraw or restrict all or part of it, including specific pages, at any time and without notice, for example during maintenance, during a security incident, or if we consider that a user is misusing the service.
You may browse the website, read and print pages for your own internal professional or personal use, and quote short extracts with a clear acknowledgement of this website as the source. To keep the site useful and safe for everyone, you must not:
- use the website unlawfully, fraudulently or in a way that damages, disables, overloads or impairs it, or interferes with anyone else’s use of it;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the website, to the server on which it is hosted, or to any connected system, network or data;
- introduce viruses, malware, ransomware or any other harmful material, or run automated vulnerability probes without our prior written consent;
- scrape, crawl, harvest or systematically extract content, contact details or data from the website, or use automated tools to place bulk submissions through the contact form;
- copy, republish, sell, sublicense, mirror or commercially exploit the content, or use it to train or fine-tune a machine learning model, without our prior written permission;
- remove, obscure or alter any copyright notice, trade mark, accreditation or attribution;
- impersonate any person, misrepresent your affiliation with any organisation, or submit material that is defamatory, discriminatory, obscene, misleading or unlawful;
- use the website in a way that breaches any applicable law or regulation, including data protection and computer misuse legislation.
If you breach these rules, we may take proportionate steps, including blocking access, reporting the matter to the relevant authorities, and pursuing any available legal remedy. We may also suspend or terminate any account, quotation or ongoing discussion connected with the misuse.
6. Ownership and Permitted Use of Website Content, Trade Marks and Other Intellectual Property
All intellectual property rights in this website and in the material published on it belong to us or are used with the permission of their owners. Protected material includes, without limitation: the text of every page; the structure, selection and arrangement of the content as a compilation and database; diagrams, floor plans, schematics, illustrations, photographs and video clips; our logos, business names and product names; the underlying code, templates and design of the site; and any downloadable documents we make available.
Copyright arises automatically in the United Kingdom on the creation of an original work, and database rights arise in the investment made in obtaining, verifying and presenting the contents of a database. Nothing on this website transfers any of those rights to you. Your permitted use is limited to viewing, reading, and printing or downloading short extracts for your own personal or internal professional reference, provided that everything you use is attributed to this website and remains unaltered.
Any other use requires our prior written consent. In particular, you may not reproduce substantial parts of this website in a publication, training pack, course, intranet, client report or commercial proposal, and you may not use our names or logos in a way that suggests endorsement, partnership or accreditation where none exists. Where photographs or diagrams on this website belong to a third party, they are used with permission and remain that party’s property.
To the extent permitted by law, we expressly reserve our rights in relation to text and data mining of the content of this website, including for the purposes of machine learning and generative artificial intelligence training. Requests for a licence for such uses should be sent to [email protected] and will be considered on their merits.
If you believe that material on this website infringes your intellectual property rights, please contact us with the details of the work, the page concerned and the basis of your claim. We will investigate promptly and will remove or amend material where that is the appropriate response.
7. Accuracy, Availability and Proportionate Limitations of Liability
We prepare our content with care and aim to keep it accurate and current. Broadcast technology nevertheless changes quickly, and practice varies between studios, venues, broadcasters and territories. The content is therefore provided for general information and professional orientation; it is not a substitute for a site-specific survey, a risk assessment, a manufacturer’s instructions or advice from a qualified engineer.
We do not promise that the website will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free or free from harmful components, nor that the content is complete, up to date or suitable for any particular purpose. Where the website is unavailable, we will restore it as soon as reasonably practicable.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, and subject to the paragraph below, we exclude liability for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of revenue, loss of anticipated savings, loss or corruption of data, loss of goodwill, and any indirect or consequential loss arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, this website or reliance on its content.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for breach of the terms implied by section 49 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 where they apply, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by anything on this page, and the remedies available to you in respect of paid services are those set out in your contract and in consumer legislation.
Where we supply equipment or services, the applicable terms are those set out in the written agreement for that supply, which take precedence over anything published on this website in the event of a conflict.
8. External Links and Third-Party Content
This website may refer to, or link to, websites, documents, products and services operated by other organisations, including manufacturers, standards bodies, industry associations, training providers and event organisers. Those references are provided for convenience and context only.
We do not control third-party websites and we are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, security, privacy practices or accessibility. A link or a mention is not an endorsement, and it does not mean that we have verified, approved or tested the third party’s products, claims or services. When you follow a link away from this website, the terms and privacy notice of the destination site apply, and you should read them before providing any personal information or entering into a transaction.
Any dealings you have with a third party whose details appear on this website, including any payment, delivery, warranty or support arrangement, are between you and that third party. We accept no responsibility for those dealings, although we are always interested to hear about problems so that we can consider whether a reference should remain on the site.
If you believe that material we have linked to is unlawful, misleading or infringing, please tell us and we will review the reference promptly.
9. Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Terms and Conditions, and Payment and Refund Policy
This Legal Information page is one part of a set of documents that together govern your use of the website. The other documents are available on this website and are summarised here in plain text so that you know where to look.
- Privacy Policy – explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, the lawful basis for processing it, how long we keep it, who we share it with, and the rights you can exercise over it. It also explains how to raise a concern with us and with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
- Cookie Policy – explains the cookies and similar technologies used on the website, distinguishes between those that are strictly necessary and those that are optional, and explains how to accept, refuse or withdraw consent using the cookie banner and your browser settings.
- Terms and Conditions – set out the rules for using the website and for any equipment hire, integration project, training or consultancy service we provide, including ordering, delivery, installation, risk, retention of title, cancellation and termination.
- Payment and Refund Policy – explains accepted payment methods, invoicing, credit terms, deposits, cancellation charges, and when a refund or credit note may be due, alongside your statutory rights where you deal with us as a consumer.
- Health, Safety and Site Access rules – summarised in project documentation and site-specific assessments where we work at your premises or in a studio under your control.
Where a document is described on this page but you cannot find it, or you would like a copy in another format such as large print, please request it using the contact details in section 3 and we will provide it free of charge.
10. Data Protection and Cookies in the United Kingdom
We process personal information in accordance with the United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Where we place or read information on your device, we also comply with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) as they apply in the United Kingdom, which is why you will see a cookie banner when you first visit the site.
We only collect what we need. Typically this means the name, organisation, email address, telephone number and message content you provide through the contact form, together with limited technical information such as your IP address, browser type and pages viewed, which helps us keep the site secure and understand which guidance is most useful.
Depending on the circumstances, we rely on one of the following lawful bases: your consent, for example for optional cookies and marketing emails; the performance of a contract, for example to prepare a quotation, arrange a hire or deliver a project; our legitimate interests, for example in responding to business enquiries, preventing misuse and improving the website; and compliance with a legal obligation, for example in relation to tax, accounting and health and safety records.
We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for, and then delete it or anonymise it in line with our retention schedule. We share information only with service providers who help us run the website, our communications and our business, and only under written contracts that require appropriate security and confidentiality. Where information is transferred outside the United Kingdom, we put appropriate safeguards in place.
You have the right to be informed, to request access to your information, to ask for it to be corrected or erased, to restrict or object to certain processing, to data portability where it applies, and to withdraw consent at any time where consent is the basis for processing. Exercising these rights is free of charge, and we will normally respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please raise it with us first by writing to [email protected]; you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, which is the United Kingdom’s independent data protection regulator.
Our cookie banner lets you accept or refuse optional cookies, and you can change your choice at any time through the banner or through your browser settings. Strictly necessary cookies, which are needed for the site to function and to remember your cookie choice, are set without consent because PECR permits this.
11. Applicable Law, Competent Courts and Consumer Dispute Rights
This Legal Information page, our other website policies and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except as set out below.
If you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom in which you live, and you benefit from any mandatory consumer protection rules of that jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, the mandatory rules of your country of residence continue to apply where they offer you greater protection.
Before starting formal proceedings, we ask that you contact us so that we can try to resolve the matter directly. Complaints sent to [email protected] are logged and reviewed, and we aim to provide a substantive response within ten working days. Where a dispute concerns a contract for goods, services or digital content and you are a consumer, you may also be entitled to use an alternative dispute resolution provider; we are not currently obliged to participate in alternative dispute resolution and we consider each request on its merits.
Nothing in this section prevents either party from applying to a court for interim or injunctive relief where that is necessary to protect its rights.
12. Contact Route, Changes to This Notice and Last-Updated Date
We review this Legal Information page regularly to keep it accurate and to reflect changes in the law, in our services and in the way the website works. When we make a material change, we will update the date shown at the top of the page and, where the change significantly affects your rights or obligations, we will highlight it on the website or notify you by email where we hold an address for you.
Each version of this page is dated, and the version published on the website at the time of your visit is the version that applies to that visit. Continued use of the website after a change takes effect means that you accept the updated page. If you do not agree with a change, you should stop using the website; if the change affects a contract you already hold with us, we will contact you separately and seek your agreement where the law requires it.
If anything on this page is unclear, if you need it in a different format, or if you believe we have published something inaccurate, please tell us. The quickest route is email to [email protected]; you can also telephone +44 (0)161 295 4545 during normal business hours, use the contact form on our Contacts page, or write to us at MediaCityUK B4, Orange Tower, Salford Quays, Salford, Greater Manchester M50 2HE, United Kingdom. We would rather hear about a problem early than not at all.
